David and John have worked in construction for a combined 40 years, running their own successful businesses separately before joining forces. After 18 years building their individual companies, growing families meant compromising on the time they could give their projects — so as friends from school who'd always checked in on each other, they decided to combine their experience into one firm.
Family is everything to David and John, hence the four pillars in the Nest mark — one for each of their four children between them. They believe every client deserves total confidence in who's in their home, so both hold up-to-date DBS certificates, and offer a full design-and-build service that pairs a builder's eye for practicality with the ‘wow factor’ where it counts.
David
David founded Amic Ltd in 2004, specialising in large extensions and conversions across the Esher and Cheam areas, and built a reputation for one-of-a-kind projects with a genuinely personalised approach. As his family grew, finding the balance between a growing business and home life became the real challenge — and the start of the Nest story.
John
As director of The Smart Loft Company for over 15 years, John turned even the most complex, awkward lofts into genuinely liveable space. His attention to detail and appetite for the trickiest jobs earned him a reputation as one of the go-to names in loft conversions — a reputation he brings straight into Nest.
